This website for Holcot Village Hall was designed, and is managed, by Deryck Watson, an experienced IT professional. As past Treasurer and current Secretary of Holcot Village Hall he has a depth of experience in the trials, tribulations, and sometimes successes, of community hall management.
Holcot Village Hall previously contained simple content and a booking form on a website operated for the parish, with little opportunity to manage that content other than by email request to the editor, rather than direct access editing. Admin and management was by a spreadsheet Booking Calendar (52 Tabs!), A well developed (some would say complex) email based process covering response to enquiries received from the parish website, or sometimes by direct email or spoken request, often circumventing processes, through to time consuming Excel based Invoicing. This was supported by spreadsheet accounting, moving on in 2025 to commercial accounting software, finally starting the migration to the current state of the art website presence and full management solution.

Over the last few years Holcot Village Hall has moved from paper based to a state of the art village hall management solution, introducing security to both processes and the building itself along with ease of management and a release of time pressure on the village hall officers.
Much of the systems development has been provided by Deryck Watson, culminating in this website and it's MyHallWizard Integrated Partner Solutions.
As Treasurer, Deryck inherited an established spreadsheet accounting format with paper based booking system and simple MS Word invoicing. He developed the accounting spreadsheet further to manage VAT, and quickly upgraded the invoice creation to MS Excel, which at least did the maths! The paper based booking system was quickly replaced by the creation of a booking form, now retired, on the parish website.
It became clear some years ago, as the hall became busier and the manual systems workload heavier,, that it was time for a full re-think of what to do! This led, eventually, to the recent development of a wholly new website. The decision took some time, but during the last quarter of 2025 Deryck created the new holcotvillagehall.co.uk website. He then completed the introduction of links to the MyHallWizard Hall Bookings Solution and its integrated services.
